Ronald Reag A Child Of Nelle And John Reagan - 1322 Words

Ronald Reagan was born in Tampico, Illinois as a child of Nelle and John Reagan. He attended Dixon high school and then went to Eureka College to study economics and sociology. He was very involved in the college he went to. He played football, ran track, was the captain of the swim team, student council president, and an actor in school productions. In his adult life, Reagan was known for many things such as being an actor, governor, and a successful president. After graduating in 1932, he started working as a radio sports announcer. In 1937, he was in southern California to follow the Chicago Cubs’ spring training season and he decided to do a screen test for the Warner Brothers movie studio. The studio offered him a contract and he immediately moved to Hollywood. Within the next twenty years, he was in 53 films. Reagan married actress Jane Wyman in 1940 and had a daughter Maureen, and adopted a son, Michael. They divorced eight years later, which made Reagan the only president to be divorced. Then, four years after the divorce he married Nancy Davis; they had two children, Patricia and Ronald. To help him move into the political world, in 1964 Reagan promoted Republican presidential candidate, Barry Goldwater who was a senator. Goldwater lost the election, however it gained recognition for Reagan. In 1966, he won Governor of California from Edmund Brown Sr., by a landslide. Within his first term he has a temporary halt to government jobs to slow down the state
